This work is from a series of stream of consciousness drawings and paintings on paper, featuring many symbols. Since Ernest has an unconventional way of communicating, he is perhaps sharing a glimpse into his mind but even when asked he chooses not to disclose very much about the meaning. Ernest said the following about this piece showing the corresponding symbols he had drawn: “Triangle, EC, square, window, bird, rectangle, Ah Ma (Grandma), triangle, luxury, 777.” The bird is in the bottom center and looks like an upside down “V.” The meaning of 777 is unclear, but the Boeing 777 is the largest Singapore Airlines jetliner. 777 is also a significant number biblically, considered the number of the holy spirit. Cette oeuvre fait partie d’une série de dessins et de peintures sur papier représentant un courant de conscience sous forme de nombreux symboles. Comme Ernest Chua communique de manière atypique, peut-être nous donne-t-il un aperçu de sa pensée, mais même lorsqu’on lui pose la question il en révèle très peu sur la signification. L’artiste dit ce qui suit à propos de l’oeuvre, en montrant les symboles correspondants qu’il a dessinés : « triangle, EC, carré, fenêtre, oiseau, rectangle, Ah Ma (grand-mère), triangle, luxe, 777. » L’oiseau est situé dans le bas de l’oeuvre au centre et ressemble à la lettre V inversée. La signification de 777 est incertaine, mais le Boeing 777 est le plus gros avion de ligne de Singapore Airlines. Ce nombre est également porteur d’un sens biblique, étant considéré comme le nombre du Saint-Esprit. Peut-être ne le saurons-nous jamais.
